Job Overview
Applications are invited for a Medical Secretary in the ENT Department. The post holder will provide an efficient administration service to support the medical secretary team. The role will involve working closely with administrative, secretarial, nursing and medical colleagues and providing a comprehensive secretarial support service. Responsibilities include audio typing of clinical letters, discharge summaries, and other annotation and medical records handling, filing and other administrative tasks. Good attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills are required. The post holder must be able to work as part of a team as well as independently, using initiative to contribute to the smooth running of this busy area and manage workload efficiently.
Previous medical administration experience is advantageous but not essential. Experience of working in a busy office environment is desirable. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Responsibilities
* Support coordination of the administration arrangements to provide a high‑quality supportive secretarial service to the consultant, medical and nursing team.
* Work independently and be accountable for organising/prioritising own workload to ensure deadlines are achieved.
* Support the facilitation of the patients along a defined pathway.
Qualifications and Person Specification
Essential criteria
* NVQ Business Administration L3 or equivalent experience.
* RSA/OCR level 2 or equivalent experience (must be a proficient user of Microsoft Word).
* Knowledge of administrative processes.
* Experience of working in a busy office environment.
* Competently communicates professionally and effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing.
* Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications.
* Experienced in planning, organising and prioritising own workload.
* Evidence of continual personal development.
Desirable criteria
* AMSPAR – City & Guilds L3.
* NVQ Customer Service L3.
* Experience of working within the NHS.
* Minute‑taking skills.
