Position Overview
The Chemical Regulatory Expert contributes to the continuity and growth of business by implementing the necessary activities and processes to ensure compliance with regulations applicable to the products, materials, and business activities of Bakelite European legal entities.
The Chemical Regulatory Expert will provide expertise and guidance to Bakelite European functions, teams, and customers as the internal expert on the principal EU and UK chemical management laws and regulations.
Job Description
1. Fully responsible for maintaining REACH registrations, including communication with consortia, dossier registration updates, substance review, assessment of downstream impacts, SDS updates, and development of Exposure Scenarios.
2. Fully responsible for submitting substance and product notifications as required by regulations in the assigned regions.
3. Responsible for reviewing and approving new raw materials and vendors, and for maintaining related data in the company ERP and SDS authoring systems.
4. Ensure regulatory compliance of existing and new products as a subject-matter expert on applicable product and chemical regulations in the assigned regions.
5. Prepare and/or review Safety Data Sheets and labels to ensure they comply with individual region regulatory product classification.
6. Address internal and external customer inquiries on regulatory matters such as REACH Compliance, Chemical Inventory Reviews, RoHS Letters, and SDSs in a timely manner.
7. Support the maintenance and update of the company ERP and SDS authoring system.
8. Assist in the implementation of current and new chemical regulations in assigned regions.
Education & Skill Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Health Science, Biology, Toxicology, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 4+ years relevant experience in product stewardship and/or regulatory compliance, including SDS/Label authoring and DG classification in Europe; experience in Asia is a plus.
3. Proficiency with computer systems (SAP or similar ERP, SDS authoring software, regulatory databases).
4. Knowledge of analytical and reaction chemistry is a plus.
5. Experience working with international and multifunctional teams is a plus.
6. German language skills and knowledge of German-specific regulations such as WGK are a plus.
