Senior Support Worker
Lily Close is recruiting a compassionate professional to join our team in Rainham, Essex. This residential support home cares for nine residents with primary learning disability diagnoses.
Location: Lily Close, Rainham, RM13 9FF, GB
Pay: £13.40 per hour
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
Licence requirement: Must have a full Manual UK licence
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Support Worker you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual care plans, undertake routine tasks, and support residents with daily activities. You will encourage independent living and help people reach their potential through both practical and emotional support.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise colleagues, lead team meetings and support your peers with performance and professional development.
* Lead support planning and act as point of contact in absence of site leadership.
* Assist with management of site petty cash and client funds.
* Support personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, eating and personal hygiene.
* Perform light housekeeping tasks such as dusting, vacuuming and changing bed clothes.
* Assist with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals.
* Assist and support attendance at medical appointments.
* Observe, monitor and record physical and emotional well‑being, and report changes to senior staff.
* Support development of family connections and liaise with specialists including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams.
* Encourage participation in social and recreational activities that promote personal growth.
Qualifications and Skills
* Previous experience in a similar setting.
* Good numeracy skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature.
* Empathy, understanding and patience.
* Ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
* Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.
* Competent verbal and written English.
* A healthcare qualification is desirable but not essential.
