Location: Barrow-in-Furness. This role is fully onsite.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Ensuring timely and consistent advice, support, coaching, and governance of SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) standards and legislation across the organization.
2. Supporting the development and embedding of a robust and compliant SHE management system within the Submarines business, and supporting the SHE improvement programme.
3. Leading and delivering key risk reduction and improvement projects/activities.
4. Maintaining professional and accountable interfaces with all stakeholders.
5. Ensuring the delivery of the Safety, Health, and Environment Operations Plan and Strategy across all Submarine sites as scheduled.
6. Providing support and governance for investigations, including comprehensive reports with root cause analysis.
Your skills and experiences:
1. Knowledge of SHE management systems, including continuous improvement and risk management.
2. Proven ability to foster a positive SHE culture.
3. Experience in assurance and governance over investigation processes, stakeholder interactions, report writing, and investigative skills.
4. NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
5. Experience undertaking investigations.
6. Experience working in a regulated or heavily regulated environment.
7. Previous experience using business reporting systems.

As a SHE Advisor with the Safety, Health, and Environment Team, you will be involved in one of the UK’s most exciting engineering programmes, providing professional SHE advice to ensure compliance and the safe construction, testing, and delivery of Nuclear Submarines. We offer relocation support across all Submarine roles, subject to eligibility criteria.
