Lead Mechanic Wanted - Immediate Start! Full Time - Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:30 with optional overtime available on Saturdays. Basic Salary: Between £35,000 to £45,000 depending on skills & experience A bit about us: Merseyside Van Sales is a rapidly growing business with 50 vehicles in stock and a new site on the horizon. As we expand, we’re setting up our own in-house garage, giving us full control over vehicle preparation, servicing, and repairs. We’re looking for an experienced Lead Mechanic to join us at this crucial stage—helping to build, run, and eventually lead our mechanical team. We currently have a vehicle technician working for us, but are looking for a more experienced mechanic to come in (alongside our current technician) to act as a lead mechanic, helping to diagnose and fix problems on vans pre-sale, as well as helping to ensure any after-sales issues are dealt with efficiently! Vehicle Technician Responsibilities: * Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues. * Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tyre rotations, and brake inspections. * Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues. * Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used. * Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations. * Maintain a clean and organized work area. * Stay up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques. What We Need: * ✅ NVQ Level 3 equivalent or higher. * ✅ At least 5 years’ experience (preferably with vans). * ✅ Experience working as a vehicle technician for at least 3 years. * ✅ Confident in all aspects of mechanics, with a genuine passion for the trade. * ✅ Proficient in diagnostics – able to pinpoint and fix issues quickly. * ✅ Capable of handling larger jobs such as clutch replacements and timing chains without hesitation. * ✅ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently. * ✅ Valid driver’s licence.
