B3.3 DEPOT OPERATOR

Not your average role ….
An exciting opportunity to become an engineering team member to control, drive and direct the safe movement of trains within the limits of the depot. Driving, shunting, servicing and repair of diesel multiple units. CET servicing in accordance with set standards and regulatory requirements. To directly maintain the working environment to a safe, clean and productive standard. Undertake reception duties, carry out depot security checks, service quality inspections, salting and snow clearing duties, and Yard Co-ordinator duties.

* Flexible outlook and be willing to learn new skills for the benefit of the team and organisation
* Ability to adapt to new processes
* experience of working in an engineering environment.
* Willing to learn shunting and driving procedures.
* Formal shunting qualification would be desirable.
* Good Interpersonal skills
* Ability to drive road motor vehicle is desirable.
Hours of work: 35-hour week. A rotating three shift cycle, which involves day, back and night shift. Weekend working is compulsory.
Reference Salary: £49,043 per annum on completion of training, training salary £47,489 per annum.

Selection process: Candidates short-listed will be invited to complete on-line and classroom assessments. Candidates successful after assessment will be invited to attend an interview. The final stage for successful candidates will be a medical examination and drugs/alcohol screening. Appointees must provide a Level 1 Disclosure Scotland check and at least 2 satisfactory references and complete a six-month probation period.
Medical Fitness: Due to the nature of the post and rail industry safety requirements there are certain medical & fitness standards that you would require to meet.
