Mechanical Engineer
Out of hours callouts - rostered - 1 in 4 weeks (Paid at additional rate)
* Please note due to the nature of the role, flexibility surrounding core hours is essential.
Overall Responsibility
To be responsible for the maintenance and modification of all site mechanical services and equipment as directed by the Maintenance Manager. To carry out mechanical repairs, tests and reports as and when necessary, with a heavy emphasis on plumbing, pipe fitting and steam.
* Carry out mechanical repairs and improvements to company properties, both on a responsive basis and strategic basis.
* Carry out mechanical tests and reports on company property and complete necessary repairs.
* Conduct preventive planned maintenance and complete relevant job documentation.
* Respond to reactive work orders and complete as required.
* Promote customer satisfaction through the repair and improvement process.
* Advise the Facilities Manager on future mechanical maintenance requirements and changes to mechanical practice and legislation.
* Install pipe work throughout the site (both copper and iron).
* Operate and monitor site boilers (oil and steam); steam training can be provided.
* Operate and maintain the site biomass boiler.
* Assist with training of new team members on department procedures.
* Monitor stock levels for plumbing and pipe fitting supplies and assist with stock takes.
* Provide on‑call cover to ensure correct operation of systems and equipment outside normal working hours.
* Complete specific tasks or projects requested by the Facilities Manager or Maintenance Manager.
* Promote good work practices and enhance working relationships.
* Contribute to continuous improvement with an emphasis on sustainability.
* Ensure Health and Safety regulations are always adhered to.
* Where appropriate, report leading and lagging indicators on safety and health to the EHS team.
* Maintain a safe and tidy work area.
* Cover for other team members as necessary.
* Carry out other reasonable duties that may or may not be related to the job.

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
* Steam qualification or equivalent experience.
* Some IT literacy.
* Experience working in a busy environment to tight deadlines.
* Experience maintaining steam boilers.
* Experience in planned preventive maintenance.
* Experience with HVAC systems.
* Experience with LTHW boilers.
* Fault finding skills.
