Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Chatham, Kent- Hybrid based on operational requirement- Driving licence essential due to site visit requirement
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience
About the role
Are you ready to lead infrastructure projects that shape the future of water services?
We’re looking for a Project Manager to join our Capital Projects Directorate, delivering key water programmes as part of our 5-year Asset Management Plan (AMP). These projects, with budgets up to £10 million, play a vital role in ensuring sustainable and resilient water services for our customers.
You’ll work across a range of complex projects, leading multidisciplinary teams and managing delivery from early planning through to completion. This is a varied role where you’ll have the opportunity to make a real and lasting impact.
What you will be responsible for:
1. Leading projects from planning through to delivery, ensuring time, cost and quality targets are met
2. Developing and maintaining robust project plans, schedules and milestones
3. Coordinating internal teams and external partners to ensure aligned delivery
4. Managing risks, issues and dependencies to support successful project outcomes
5. Delivering clear and accurate project reporting and forecasts
6. Building strong relationships with stakeholders to support collaboration and decision-making
7. Supporting programme-level planning alongside Senior Project Managers and Programme Managers
Additional requirements specific to the role:
8. Hybrid role with travel across sites and project locations
9. Occasional site visits to support delivery and compliance
What you’ll bring to the role:
Essential
10. Proven experience delivering infrastructure, utilities or construction projects
11. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
12. Experience managing project risks, budgets and schedules
13. Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and drive delivery outcomes
14. Understanding of health & safety requirements within a project environment
Desirable
15. Experience within the water or regulated utilities sector
16. Understanding of project delivery within AMP cycles
17. Knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4)
18. Relevant qualification in project management (e.g. APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent)
