Residential Children's Support Worker - Sawbridgeworth
White Trees group is owned and operated by SureCare Residential Ltd. We provide a home for vulnerable and complex young people in residential care, with a focus on safety, continuity, therapeutic interventions and building brighter futures for the young people in our care.
Role: Residential Children's Support Worker (Sawbridgeworth)
Note: This description reflects the responsibilities and requirements for the role as part of our residential care team.
Responsibilities
* Work in a home environment to provide nurture, guidance and support; maintain a clean, homely and welcoming living space as part of the therapeutic approach.
* Empower and encourage young people to develop life skills and independence (e.g., preparing meals, travel training, domestic duties) in line with individual independence programmes.
* Provide detailed handovers to on-coming staff and develop day plans that are effective and timely.
* Complete accurate and comprehensive records for each young person, including engagement, mood, conversations, thoughts and feelings.
* Ensure day-to-day house operations, safety checks, cleanliness, and a warm, welcoming environment are maintained.
* Engage with Wellbeing Services to ensure access to therapeutic support for all young people.
* Assist with medication administration in line with White Trees policy and regulatory expectations.
* Manage petty cash records accurately and report discrepancies to the manager.
* Drive company cars to transport young people to education, meetings and activities; perform pre-journey safety checks.
* Occasionally provide personal care as needed for young people who are unwell or struggling with personal hygiene.
* Stay up to date with policies and procedures and apply them in practice.
Care Planning
* Encourage young people to share views and concerns; develop and update individual care plans monthly (minimum).
* Involve young people in decision-making and advocate on their behalf.
* Support achievement of targets within care plans; be inventive in approach.
* Follow individual positive behaviour plans and share new strategies with the team.
* Develop and update Risk Assessments (RAMPs) and Positive Behaviour Plans; ensure staff are familiar with all risk assessments.
* Use approved NFPS techniques when physical interventions are required; participate in debriefs to reflect on practice.
* Encourage participation in activities that enrich lives inside and outside the home.
* Maintain high standards of recordkeeping and ensure paperwork is complete and timely.
* Act as a key worker with timely completion of relevant paperwork, including weekly reports.
Support and Training
* Participate in monthly Supervisions with Senior Leadership Team and Wellbeing Service for CPD.
* Complete White Trees Induction Programme (4 days).
* Complete regular NFPS Physical Intervention and Behaviour Management Training; physical intervention may be used as a last resort for safety.
* Ensure mandatory training is up-to-date and aligned with current legislation.
* Attend all booked training; Level 3 qualification is essential and must be completed within 2 years; Level 5 access via internal promotions.
