Enfield is increasingly one of the most diverse areas of London, with all the benefits this brings us across our communities, culture, heritage and local economy. We also have incredibly diverse landscapes from the urban centres of Edmonton, Southgate, Palmers Green and Enfield Town, to our rural areas and farmland in the north of the borough. Our Council Plan sets out how we are investing in Enfield to deliver positive outcomes for our communities (2023-26). Due to members of our current EPS team being successful in securing senior posts in our service, alongside a thriving traded service, Enfield Council is seeking maingrade EPs to join our friendly, dynamic and well-regarded Educational Psychology Service. As a member of our team, you ll be joining an EPS that is dedicated to providing a high-quality service for Enfield s children, young people and their families. We have a strong focus on emotional health and wellbeing, developing trauma informed and culturally responsive practice. The EPS takes a lead across several areas across the partnership such as trauma informed practice, emotional based school non-attendance, autism and neurodiversity. Have a look at our website for further information. We have a history of multi-agency working, and all of our EPs have opportunities to work within existing and/or new projects and services, and develop specialist interests. Current commissioned work include the Virtual School for LAC, CiN/CP; Youth Justice Service; Primary Behaviour Support Service (SWERRL), Children who are Educated Other than at School/College (EOTAS/C); School Admissions Service; Mental Health Support Teams; Enfield Advisory Service for Autism (EASA), Enfield Communication Advisory Support Service (ECASS); ELSA; and MeLSA. All EPs have a patch of schools where you can develop strong relationships and partnership working. You will benefit from a supportive senior leadership team, committed to supporting team belonging, wellbeing and work life balance. There is a service-wide CPD programme providing ongoing training where we can learn, grow and reflect together. Peer and group supervision sessions take place alongside regular individual supervision. We have strong links with the doctoral training courses and are committed to supporting our Trainee Educational Psychologists on placement, and through roles as university tutors. We are supportive by a friendly, efficient and dedicated business support team and are based in an attractive and well-appointed central office base in the Civic Centre in Enfield Town. Free car parking provides easy access to the team base. The EPS is co-located with other teams in the People department, including SEN, School and Early Years Improvement, School Admissions and Public Health, enhancing opportunities to work together. The role requires professional qualification in Educational Psychology and registration with the HCPC as a practitioner psychologist. We warmly welcome applications from Trainee EPs who are due to qualify by September 2025 and will have HCPC registration confirmed following the completion of a recognised training course. The role involves visiting settings in Enfield and outside the borough. Here is what it s like to work in Enfield EPS, from those who have recently joined us: I am a 3rd year Trainee Educational Psychologist, and I joined Enfield last year. The team is warm and welcoming and my colleagues in the management team have listened and been accommodating when juggling my thesis and placement has been challenging. I have had the opportunity to do project-based work (with the Virtual School) and work with the primary behaviour support service (known as SWERRL) where I work alongside outreach workers, family systemic therapists, speech and language therapists and play therapists. The work has been varied and interesting, and this led me to apply and secure a job here in Enfield for when I qualify. Molly Carl (Trainee EP) I am a newly qualified EP and have been with Enfield EPS since my second year of training on the EP doctorate programme. Enfield EPS has a real passion for putting psychology at the heart of practice, with great investments in the service s professional development, such as regular supervision for Dynamic Assessment, and frequent training on trauma informed practice. I am proud to be part of culture that values culturally responsive practice and adopts a reflective lens when meeting the needs of our diverse population in Enfield. The team are highly supportive and friendly, and as a service we have regular managerial and peer supervision. Enfield EPS also has many commissioned projects for EPs, working in partnership with other services. I am currently part of the Virtual School for LAC, CiN/CP and I am also co-leading the MeLSA intervention training with schools in the local area. This has allowed me to develop my interests and professional skillset. I ve had the opportunity to develop my thesis research findings into a local offer for parents and schools Dr Becky Mulhall (EP) Having recently relocated from South Africa for this role, it's been great to experience the support of colleagues genuinely invested in your growth and development. Coupled with regular supervision from your manager, their attentive guidance ensures your competence in your new role. The work itself is also diverse and interesting, making Enfield an ideal place for professional growth and expanding your expertise.
