AECOM’s Defence team partners with clients to deliver infrastructure aligned with evolving strategic needs. From scalable, future‑ready solutions to minimum viable capability, we provide certainty, adaptability, and value. Backed by global expertise and deep sector insight, our integrated teams help shape resilient assets that support Australia’s Defence mission — now and into the future.


We have a number of opportunities available in our Defence business here in Australia

* Nuclear Engineering Manager (NSQEP)
* Maritime Structures
* Building Structures (NSQEP)
* Architects (NSQEP)
* Quality & Assurance
* Nuclear System Engineers
* Design Managers
* Hydraulic Engineers
* Fire Engineers
* Mechanical, Electrical and Structural Engineers


How you’ll make a difference

* Contribute to the development of innovative and scalable infrastructure solutions that align with the Australian Government’s National Defence Strategy. Your expertise will help address strategic risks and enhance national security.
* Work on projects that improve Defence capabilities, ensuring that our solutions are future‑ready and adaptable to evolving strategic needs. Your contributions will support the creation of resilient assets that are crucial for Australia’s Defence mission.
* Engage with diverse teams and stakeholders, building strong partnerships that foster collaboration and trust. Your ability to work across disciplines will enhance project outcomes and strengthen relationships with clients and partners.
* Leverage your technical skills and industry knowledge to deliver high‑quality results. By maintaining rigorous standards and best practices, you will help ensure that every project meets the highest levels of excellence.
* Play a key role in mentoring and developing junior team members. By sharing your knowledge and experience, you will help cultivate a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the team.

Qualifications


The qualities that help you thrive

* Relevant Qualifications: A degree in engineering, or a related field.
* Industry Experience: Proven experience in Defence projects or related sectors, with a focus on infrastructure development.
* Technical Skills: Expertise in your respective discipline, with a strong understanding of current industry standards and regulations.
* Leadership and Collaboration: Experience in leading teams and collaborating with cross‑functional groups to deliver projects effectively.
* Commitment to Quality: A strong commitment to quality assurance and compliance, ensuring the highest standards are met.

You will have suitable qualifications and practical engineering experience in the defence industry (nuclear experience highly regarded). You will hold or be able to obtain relevant security clearances from AUKUS.

Whilst our preference is Adelaide, these roles can also be based in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne.
