Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Technical Expert – Antenna Systems to be based at our customer’s site in Bicester.
Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.
The Role:
We areseekingaTechnicalExpert to own thevehicle-level antenna system architecture, performance, and validationfor automotive platforms. This roleis responsible forend-to-end antenna system definition and integration forGPS/GNSS, DAB, FM/AM, and Satellite Radio (SXM), working closely with internal infotainment, telematics, EMC, and vehicle engineering teams, as well as managing Tier-1 suppliers. The position includes strong ownership ofDFMEA and DVP&R activitiesand close collaboration withradio tuner and antenna amplifierdevelopment teams to ensure robust, production-ready RF performance.
Area of Responsibility
* Own thevehicle antenna system architectureacross multiple vehicle platforms and programs
* Define system requirements and performance targets forGPS/GNSS, DAB, FM/AM, and SXMantennas
* Specify antenna concepts (roof, glass, shark-fin, bumper, mirror, etc.) considering styling, vehicle packaging, cost, and manufacturing constraints
Vehicle Integration & Performance
* Leadvehicle-level antenna integration, placement, grounding, and interaction with BIW, trims, and glass
* Ensureoptimalsystem performance in real-world vehicle environments, including mitigation of detuning, coupling, and noise
* Work closely withradio tuner teams tooptimizesystem sensitivity, selectivity, and robustness
DFMEA, DVP & Validation
* LeadDFMEAfor antenna and RF systems;identifyrisks, define mitigation strategies, and track closure across development phases
* Own and approveDVP&R / DVPplans for antenna systems atcomponent, subsystem, and vehicle levels
* Review and approve validation results, ensuring compliance with OEM targets and regulatory requirements
* Support DV/PV, EMC, and vehicle-level sign-off activities
* Act as thetechnical interface to Tier-1 suppliersfor antennas, amplifiers, and RF components
* Review and approve supplier designs, simulations, DFMEA, DVP results, and change requests
* Drive technical issue resolution with suppliers and internal stakeholders
* Support sourcing decisions and technical evaluations during supplier nomination
Cross-Functional Leadership
* Collaborate with infotainment, telematics, EMC, body engineering, styling, manufacturing, and quality teams
* Participate in system design reviews, vehicle milestones, and program gateways
* Contribute to OEM antenna standards, design guidelines, and lessons learned
* Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the antenna/RF domain
Knowledge / Experience
* Extensive experience withautomotive antenna systems: GPS/GNSS, DAB, FM/AM, and SXM
* Strong experience working atvehicle system levelwithin an automotive OEM environment
* Proven hands-on experience withradio tuners and antenna amplifiers, including system matching and performance optimization
* Solid understanding ofRF fundamentals, antenna theory, and electromagnetics
* Demonstrated ownership ofDFMEA and DVP&R in an automotive product development lifecycle
* Experience with antenna and RF testing: chamber, bench, and vehicle-level measurements
* Strong capability in interpreting RF performance data and driving system-level decisions
* Experience managing and technically leadingTier-1 suppliers
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Skills
* Experience definingOEM-level antenna performance requirements and standards
* Knowledge ofEMC/EMIand vehicle noise mitigation strategies
* Familiarity withactive antenna design, LNAs, filters, and RF front-end architectures
* Exposure toconnected vehicle antennas(LTE/5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, V2X)
* Understanding of OEM vehicle development processes (APQP, DV/PV, PPAP, change management)
* Experience supporting global vehicle platforms and multi-region regulatory requirements
* Bachelor’s orMaster’s degreein Electrical Engineering, Electronics, RF Engineering, or a related discipline
