The Test Administrator will work as part of the IT Applications Team at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, focusing on testing both existing and newly implemented or upgraded IT systems and interfaces. The role includes creating and executing application test scripts, ensuring the smooth operation of NHS systems, and providing support to users across the Trust.
The test administrator is responsible for identifying, documenting, and escalating system failures, defects and interface issues. Working proactively with technical teams, the role ensures that all issues are monitored and fully resolved.
Key responsibilities also include:
* Organising and managing your workload independently in a fast‑paced environment.
* Communicating clearly and effectively across the Trust.
* Providing manual testing of NHS applications and interfaces, particularly those involving HL7.
* Traveling between Bedford Borough Hall, Luton and Bedford, with potential additional sites. The role requires flexibility for evenings, nights and weekends when required.
Hybrid Working
This role offers flexibility: two days based in our Bedford office and three days working from home.

Interviews will be conducted in person at our Bedford offices.
Key Duties
* Carry out comprehensive testing of new and upgraded applications, ensuring that each system meets specification and functions safely and reliably.
* Test interfaces to clinical applications to ensure interoperability and confirm that changes do not introduce failures.
* Manage regression testing to verify that corrected issues are retested and that applications and interfaces are successfully implemented.
* Research, design, and develop bespoke testing scripts for new applications and for upgrades to existing systems.
* Ensure that user acceptance testing (UAT) is fully completed, documented, and signed off before deployment or upgrade.
* Identify, log, prioritise and track defects throughout the testing lifecycle, escalating recurring or complex issues to ensure long‑term solutions.
* Liaise with third‑party suppliers and internal technical teams, managing support calls through to resolution in line with agreed processes.
* Support junior team members and assist with application implementation and ongoing support.
* Use strong analytical, problem‑solving and debugging skills to help maintain high system availability and a positive user experience.
