Job overview
A full-time PA post as a substantive Consultant in Paediatric Ophthalmology is available at the Oxford Eye Hospital. The ideal candidate would have a post CCT Fellowship in paediatric ophthalmology. Candidates with adult strabismus experience are encouraged to apply. This is a substantive consultant post with PAs allocated for direct clinical care and supporting professional activities, including on-call commitments.
Candidates are highly recommended to visit the department and hospital and are invited to contact the Directorate Clinical Lead for Ophthalmology, Mr. Jonathan Norris, or the Clinical Director for Ophthalmology, Rebecca Turner.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist to join our established team at the Oxford Eye Hospital.
The Oxford Eye Hospital provides paediatric ophthalmology services to Oxfordshire and conducts tertiary referrals from surrounding regions. The post-holder is expected to provide comprehensive paediatric ophthalmology services. Experience in adult strabismus would be desirable.
The service collaborates with departments such as paediatrics, neurosurgery, neurology, and craniofacial units at Oxford Children’s Hospital.
Research opportunities are available, and participation in clinical trials is encouraged. The on-call rota is mandatory.
The team includes a locum consultant, a paediatric ophthalmology fellow, optometrists, orthoptists, and trainees.
Applicants must be on the GMC specialist register or be within months of registration at the time of interview. Part-time and job-sharing applications are welcome.
