Senior Care Assistant | Worcestershire | Full Time | £12.75 per hour
Set on seven acres of secluded grounds, our client is a Residential Care Home on the edge of Redditch, Worcestershire. Rated overall “Good” in the last CQC inspection (April 2019) the Home is family owned, and registered to care for up to 28 residents.
In this role, you will plan, implement and supervise the provision of quality care, in conjunction with service users. You will ensure that Service Users retain their dignity and individuality and be involved in the general activities of the Home.
You will maintain a safe and secure environment for vulnerable service users, staff and visitors.

* A caring and compassionate individual providing support and care to our vulnerable residents and staff
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels – good standard of English written and verbal skills
* A Team player, who is able to work on your own initiative and has the skills to organise and plan the shift with Care Assistants
* Committed to provide the highest standard of care to our residents
* H&SC Level 3 in Care OR willing to work towards (QCF Units in health and social care or equivalent)
* Sensitive to the needs of others and able to provide social and emotional support
* Satisfactory DBS Checks and excellent attendance and punctuality record
* Previous supervisory experience – desirable
* Competent in administering medication – full training will be provided
Your main responsibilities will include
* To be able to lead a shift, assigning staff duties, and liaising with other health care professionals as required.
* To assist with all aspects of personal care, including washing, personal hygiene, dressing and assisting with meals, whilst ensuring dignity and respect are maintained at all times for people who use our care service
* To promote and adhere to the workplace values and provide choice and commitment to the mental health and physical well-being of residents
* To help residents to participate in daily activities of their choice such as recreational/leisure activities, crafts, reading and writing and day trips
* To help service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, as stated in the individual service users’ care plan
* To encourage service users to remain as independent as possible.
* Closely monitor service users who may be confused and/or who have behavioural problems
* Answer nurse call system, giving assistance as required
* Carrying out general tasks such as housework and laundry and ensuring service users’ clothing is kept clean and tidy and liaising with service users’ families for items required
* Working with staff and other health and social care professionals to produce individual personalised care plans
* To report to the home manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user
* Ensure full privacy and dignity is maintained for service users at the end of their life and the bereaved, in line with Parklands policies and procedures
* Assist Service Users who need help during meal times (be aware of swallowing difficulties, dietary requirements etc)
* Escort Service Users travelling to and from the Care Home e.g. on social outings, hospital visits etc
