Do you wish to be part of our expanding and dynamic team?

We are currently looking for enthusiastic staff nurses to join our acute cardiology team at Wycombe Hospital. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about cardiology and team work.

Team work is essential in CCU and the ward is supported by a high level of senior nurses who will be there to support you.

CCU is a 22 bedded and fast paced unit that specializes in cardiac care. You will have the opportunity to look after a variety of complex cardiovascular conditions.

Main duties of the job

This is the ideal role for someone with cardiology experience although if you are newly qualified and show drive to learn we are also interested in what you have to offer. You will be expected to be IV competent and able to undertake venepuncture and cannulation (or willing to learn). Undertaking immediate life support is also essential.

We offer specialist cardiac courses to all our staff as well as in house training which led by our cardiac practice development nurse.

Education, Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria

10. Registered Nurse/Awaiting NMC PIN

Desirable criteria

11. Evidence of further continued professional development
12. Post qualification experience in relevant speciality
13. Hold / be working towards an NMC approved mentoring qualification

Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

Essential criteria

14. Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to negotiate
15. Ability to manage and prioritise own caseload with supervision
16. Ability to solve problems and use initiative
17. Ability to develop clinical skills
18. Willingness to undergo training (e.g. medications)
19. Basic IT skills
20. Knowledge of the NMC code of conduct
21. Ability to maintain a safe clinical environment conducive to patient care Adaptable to change
22. Ability to work rotating shifts
23. Diplomatic approach with professionalism
24. Flexible and approachable

Desirable criteria

25. Willingness to develop teaching skills
26. Awareness of the NHSE guidance of clinical governance in order to continuously improve quality of care e.g. quality, safety and ward audit standards
27. Knowledge of care planning, preceptorship, reflection and clinical supervision

Experience

Essential criteria

28. Experience of teaching students, HCA’s and qualified staff

Desirable criteria

29. Previous experience as shift/team leader
30. Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

31. Able to travel to other sites and off site as necessary
32. Maybe required to work in other departments if requested to do so
