Overall Purpose of the Role
The primary role of the HSE Manager is to serve as a link between the company and its operations, ensuring full delivery of HSE standards.
The HSE Manager is responsible for implementing initiatives, disseminating information and systems efficiently within their business sector, and ensuring consistent operation of HS&E to meet company, client, and customer expectations.
The role includes coaching and mentoring direct reports, communicating HSE issues to the Head of HSE, and supporting regulatory compliance issues faced by line managers.
Occasionally, the role involves project work or research, with the expectation to lead functions related to Health & Safety, Food Safety, or Environment as directed by the HSE Director, and to support the Heads of Compliance/HSE Director in their absence.
Key Accountabilities
* Implement and deliver HSE strategies, systems, and procedures at all levels
* Act as the main HSE contact within their segment
* Support the HSE team in their responsibilities
* Stay informed about legislative and technical changes, and communicate these effectively to ensure compliance
* Conduct regular reviews with direct reports
* Engage with auditors, managers, contractors, and project teams daily
* Ensure effective communication of HSE issues within teams
* Collaborate with the HSE director to promote HSE initiatives across the UK & Ireland division
* Liaise with external agencies to promote HSE delivery
Person Specification
* Extensive experience in regulatory enforcement and senior management within the commercial sector, with specific HSE and OSHA reporting knowledge
* Experience in the energy sector is desirable
* Knowledge of large projects and facilities management experience
* Proven ability to influence, coach, and motivate others
* Ability to effect change across all levels within tight budget constraints is essential
* Willingness to travel
