Acute Oncology and Cancer of Unknown Primary Clinical Nurse Specialist
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Acute Oncology Service (AOS) at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust for a Band 7 Acute Oncology/Cancer of Unknown Primary Clinical Nurse Specialist. We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and dynamic nurse to join our small, friendly and forward‑thinking team.
Main duties of the job
The Acute Oncology Team provides early input of specialist care to oncology patients, enabling safer and higher quality care for patients with complications of treatments or new diagnosis. The role requires the ability to urgently review patients with complications of cancer and ensure appropriate pathways of care are put in place. The goal is to support patients and provide clinicians with the help needed to care for people with a malignancy, including new diagnosis. It also provides specialist support to patients with Cancer of Unknown Primary throughout the pathway of care from diagnosis to end‑of‑life care.
The post holder will demonstrate specialist knowledge and experience related to all aspects of oncological malignancy, have experience in a senior nursing role, and hold a first‑degree qualification. The AOS team covers both QMC and City sites Monday‑Friday; the successful candidate must be flexible to meet the changing needs of the service in the future.
The post holder will prioritise workloads, use initiative, manage a caseload of patients autonomously, and assist in implementing and providing formal and informal education programmes on the Acute Oncology Service to staff within the Trust.
