Overview

Are you a construction professional who would like to provide meaningful benefit to the local community, particularly to the lives of young people? If so, then why not apply for our Clerk of Works role and help to inspire success and improve people’s futures!

Grŵp Llandrillo Menai is one of the biggest FE colleges in Wales, with an ambitious programme of Capital Projects. As such, an opportunity on our Rhyl campus (Coleg Llandrillo) has arisen for an experienced Clerk of Works to oversee demolition works and the subsequent construction of a bespoke, two-storey, educational building, accommodating teaching facilities for both the automotive and joinery sectors.

The role

This is more than a site inspection role; it is an opportunity to ensure the highest standards of quality for a facility that will inspire the next generation of skilled tradespeople. In this pivotal role, you will act as the College’s technical representative on-site, providing the essential oversight needed to ensure that the project delivery aligns with our high standards so that every phase of demolition and construction is delivered safely and to specification, whilst safeguarding our legal and contractual compliance, budget and programme.

What you’ll bring

We are looking for a proactive communicator who can navigate the complexities of a live site while building collaborative relationships with contractors and the College’s stakeholders. We require someone who pays attention to detail and has excellent construction knowledge of the building regulations and materials. Acting in a professional manner, the successful candidate will be organised, have clear and accurate report writing skills and be appropriately experienced to foresee and overcome any potential issues on site.

Typical Duties

* Complete site inspections, to ensure compliance.
* Witness testing & commissioning of contractors/subcontractors work.
* Attend site & online meetings, as required.
* Identify, report & track potential issues and defective work, with all necessary parties, through to resolution.
* Complete weekly inspection reports.
* Monitor site progress & resources.
* Uphold the correct lines of communication for contractual project control.
