Overview
Principal Consultant - Arboriculture and Forestry at WSP. The Ecology and Arboriculture team supports a diverse range of projects across the UK, delivering integrated solutions with in-house specialists.
You will be involved with several projects concurrently, with opportunities to work with GIS/CAD (not required but advantageous). Experience with digital data capture devices in the field is preferred. The Arboriculture and Forestry team operates across the UK with flexible location.
What’s Involved / Responsibilities
* Site-based surveys, assessments, measurements, inspections and monitoring in relation to BS5837:2012 and tree hazard assessments.
* Collation and interpretation of arboricultural information from desk studies.
* Preparing technical reports and feasibility studies, inputting into arboricultural impact assessments and arboricultural method statements.
* Liaising with the design team to develop mitigation solutions.
* Data analysis and project management.
Your Requirements / What We Will Be Looking For
* Enthusiasm for arboriculture and willingness to learn
* Appropriate academic qualification in arboriculture and experience undertaking surveys
* Experience as an arboriculture consultant and/or as a local authority tree officer or similar
* Experience in undertaking arboriculture surveys using digital data capture
* Experience in inputting to and producing high-quality technical arboriculture reports in support of planning applications
* Ability to work in a pragmatic team of arboricultural, landscape and environmental professionals
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and arboricultural survey methodologies
* Flexibility to travel and work away from home within the UK regularly
* A desire to develop core arboriculture and consultancy skills
