Job Description
The Senior Draftsman – Tekla 3D RC Modeller is responsible for delivering high-quality 3D reinforced concrete models and detailing using Tekla Structures for the most complex buildings of the EPR Nuclear Island on Sizewell C.
The role is primarily production-focused, with strong technical autonomy on RC modelling, working in close coordination with the Chief Draftsman and the BIM Coordinator within a BIM-managed and regulated nuclear environment.
Scope of Works – Nuclear Island Buildings
The role will primarily support modelling activities for Nuclear Island structures, including:
* Reactor Buildings and Common Raft
* Fuel Buildings
* Safeguard Buildings
* Airplane Crash-resistant Buildings
These structures involve very thick RC sections, high reinforcement densities, complex embedments, and stringent constructability constraints.
Key Responsibilities
3D RC Modelling & Detailing (Tekla)
* Develop and maintain 3D reinforced concrete models using Tekla Structures.
* Model complex RC elements, including:
o Common rafts, basemats, thick walls and slabs
o Highly congested reinforcement layouts
o Openings, penetrations, embedments, and construction joints
* Produce RC detailing deliverables:
o General Arrangement (GA) drawings
o Reinforcement drawings
o Bar Bending Schedules (BBS)
* Accurately implement engineering sketches, mark-ups, and design comments into the Tekla model.
BIM Environment & Coordination
* Work within a BIM-managed environment in accordance with the project BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
* Coordinate closely with:
o Chief Draftsman / Lead RC Detailer for technical direction and prioritisation
o BIM Coordinator for model federation, clash management, and exchanges
* Ensure Tekla models comply with:
o Model structure and naming conventions
o Required Level of Detail (LOD) and Level of Information (LOI)
* Support the resolution of clashes and interface issues identified during coordination reviews.
Quality, Nuclear Context & Compliance
* Deliver modelling outputs in compliance with:
o Project procedures and nuclear quality requirements
o Applicable design codes (Eurocodes, RCC-CW where applicable)
* Apply a strong nuclear safety culture in all modelling activities.
* Manage model revisions in line with document and model control processes.
* Support responses to design reviews and construction queries related to RC detailing.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in 3D reinforced concrete modelling using Tekla Structures.
* Strong understanding of RC detailing rules and constructability.
* Ability to interpret structural drawings, calculations, and engineering intent.
* Experience on large infrastructure or complex building projects.
* High level of accuracy, rigour, and quality awareness.
* Ability to work efficiently within a structured multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Experience
* Experience on nuclear or regulated projects.
* Exposure to EPR / HPC / SZC-type structures.
* Familiarity with BIM workflows and CDEs (e.g. ProjectWise).
* Experience dealing with dense reinforcement and safety-critical RC structures.
