Head Chef – Frederiks, Hope Street, Liverpool

Salary: £40,000 + perks

Frederiks is a landmark on Hope Street - part bar, part restaurant, part music venue. By day we're laid-back, by night we're alive, hosting everything from Sunday roasts and jazz nights to weddings and DJ sets.

We're looking for a Head Chef who can do more than just run a kitchen. We want someone who will align with our chosen direction for the business, champion our food identity, and make Frederiks famous for the best food in the city

What you'll dp

* Deliver consistently brilliant food that makes Frederiks the place to be
* Lead, train, and motivate a team that respects you because you set the standard.
* Control GP, labour, stock, and compliance like it's your own money.
* Work seamlessly with FOH so the whole experience is sharp and guest-first.
* Build a kitchen culture of respect, clarity, and high performance.

What we're looking for

* Proven kitchen leadership (Head Chef or ambitious Sous ready to step up).
* A chef with pride, creativity, and discipline - someone who gets the commercial direction and makes it exceptional.
* Resilient, reliable, and hungry to build something long-term.
* Someone who thrives under pressure and is as passionate about consistency as they are about flavour.

What success looks like

* 30 days: You've got grip on the kitchen, team, and compliance.
* 60 days: Service is sharper, the offer is dialled in, and word-of-mouth is building.
* 90 days: Frederiks is on the map for being one of the best place to eat in Liverpool.

Responsibilities

* Supervise and manage kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient food preparation and service.
* Oversee all aspects of food production, from menu planning to ingredient sourcing and dish presentation.
* Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
* Develop and implement creative menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and culinary trends.
* Train and mentor kitchen staff in cooking techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen operations.
* Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.
* Monitor inventory levels, ordering supplies as necessary to maintain stock levels without waste.
* Conduct regular quality checks on dishes before they are served to guests.

Requirements

* Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
* Strong supervisory experience with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
* Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and culinary trends.
* Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen management.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
* A passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional dining experiences to guests.
* Strong leadership qualities with effective communication skills to foster teamwork within the kitchen.
