St Joseph's Convent with Care is a 17 bedroom convent located in Whitby. Working within the ethos of the Institute of Our Lady of Mercy, the role ensures the provision of high-quality care to the religious Sisters that reside there. This includes the management and supervision of the staff team to enable them to maximise their potential through leadership, coaching, positive example, support and guidance. The post requires sensitivity to the needs of the religious community and a very close working relationship with the Sisters and Pastoral Team who oversee the spiritual aspects of community life and pastoral care.
In addition to leading the delivery of care, the role will ensure the smooth and efficient day to day running of the Convent including finance management, buildings, catering, property and maintenance.

Responsibilities
Work with the Head of People and Services and Institute Advisors to ensure the Convent is fully compliant with all relevant legislation and standards.
Manage all employee (care, administration, catering, domestic and maintenance support staff) related issues and associated administration including recruitment, induction, supervision, and appraisals. Liaise with HR support from Head Office in Leeds.
Be responsible for the efficient and effective management of the Convent's financial plan, balancing income against expenditure and taking early, appropriate action against predicted overspends, in consultation with the designated Trustee, and Head Office.
Ensure the safe, and efficient day to day running of the convent and that all site facilities and equipment are serviceable, organising repairs or replacements in accordance with Institute finance policies and best value principles.
Skills and Experience
Level 5 Leadership & Management Award, Leadership for Health & Social Care, Registered Manager Award (RMA) or equivalent.
A minimum of three years managing CQC registered residential care services for older adults as a Registered Home Manager or Deputy Manager
Working knowledge of the Health & Social Care Act 2008 and the Care Quality Commission's guidance with the fundamental standards of quality and safety.
Familiarity with dementia care practices is an advantage.
Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills to effectively manage staff and engage with sisters.
A compassionate approach to caregiving, demonstrating empathy and understanding of the Catholic faith.
