Tradewind are recruiting! Are you an experienced Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching assistant looking for a new opportunity in Birmingham? Tradewind Recruitment are looking for experienced Teaching Assistants to join a dedicated Special School in Birmingham with multiple sites for learning, that provides support to secondary aged students. This school caters to students with autism and additional complex learning needs, with a diverse range of abilities. Successful candidates will need to be able to support pupils that may have challenging behaviour, specific learning difficulties or EHCPs. With support from other members of staff, activities will be set by the teacher, and you will support pupils with their progress and attainment. We are looking for those who are available on a full-time basis (5 days per week).
Responsibilities
Assist pupils in a special school setting under the direction of the class teacher, contributing to individual and group activities designed to support progress and attainment. Support pupils with their learning, behaviour, and engagement, including those who may have challenging behaviour or EHCPs. Work with a range of staff to deliver activities and monitor pupil progress. This role is full-time, five days per week.
Experience and Qualifications
* Experience supporting pupils in a special school setting (3-6 months minimum) with some or all of the following areas: ADHD, Asperger Syndrome, Autism (ASD), Challenging Behaviour, Global Development Delay (GDD), Hearing Impairment (HI), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI), Non-Verbal Learning Difficulties (NLD), Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH), Speech and Language Disorder, Visual Impairment (VI).
* Sound interest in working with secondary-aged students with autism and related needs.
