Are you an experienced people leader with a passion for supporting customers and protecting vital public income? We are looking for a motivated and skilled Team Leader – Rent Advice to lead our Rent Advice Team within East Lothian Council’s Revenues Service.
In this key role, you will:
* Lead, support and develop a team of Rent Officers and Rent Advisers
* Oversee the collection and recovery of Council House Rents
* Provide guidance and support on Rent-related issues
* Ensure consistent, high quality service delivery to support tenants and prevent arrears
* Develop procedures, deliver training, and drive continuous improvement
* Contribute to performance management, recruitment, and staff development
You’ll bring strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and the ability to analyse and interpret complex legislation. Most importantly, you’ll be committed to supporting tenants, improving outcomes and ensuring the Council secures the income needed to deliver essential services.

Job Details
To assist in the delivery of an effective and efficient Revenues Service by leading and developing the Rent Advice team, providing welfare support & managing customer debt to ensure the Council has the finances available to continue to deliver quality services to the people of East Lothian.
To maintain the efficiency of service delivery within specified standards/approved budgets and in compliance with the Council’s policies and plans with a commitment to achieve best value.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications
Educated to HND or SVQ4 level and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
Driving Licence
A full current driving licence is desirable for this post.
PVG Membership
This post is considered as a Regulated Role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020.
All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
