Care Experienced Support Teacher (Secondary) (Temporary)
An exciting one-year opportunity has arisen within Education and Families for a dedicated and motivated Care Experienced Support Teacher (Secondary) to join North Lanarkshire’s Virtual School Team.
About the Virtual School
North Lanarkshire is committed to The Promise and ensuring that all children and young people achieve their full potential. The Virtual School is a small, multi‑disciplinary team established to provide intensive and responsive support for care experienced children and young people.
Our key priorities are:
1. Ensuring effective support is in place for care experienced learners, with a particular focus on improving attainment and achievement.
2. Working collaboratively with families, especially those of learners who are looked after at home or in kinship care, to support young people to thrive within their family environment.
3. Providing support and challenge across Education and Families to improve outcomes for care experienced children and their families.
Although not a physical school, the Virtual School works closely with all North Lanarkshire schools to ensure robust planning, monitoring and tracking of achievements, enabling targeted support for care experienced learners who require intensive level assistance.
About the Role
The Care Experienced Support Teacher (Secondary) will work collaboratively with young people, their families, and a range of Education and Families colleagues, including teachers, social workers, support staff and educational psychologists. The role also involves partnership working with health professionals, training providers, employers, Who Cares? Scotland, and other key partners as part of a multi‑agency approach to supporting young people and their families.
This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified secondary teacher—ideally with experience supporting care experienced children and young people—to join a dynamic and dedicated team committed to improving outcomes at both local and national levels.
