Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (FEED), Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire
Adecco Engineering has openings with our client for Lead (and Senior) Mechanical Design Engineers to join their organization based in Hull on a permanent basis.
Hybrid working arrangements will also be considered.
Due to new contract awards, you will support various projects during the detailed design phase, with relevant experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industries.
Job Description:
The Lead Mechanical Engineer, reporting directly to the MD, will be responsible for providing technical services such as delivering project scopes, supporting and directing mechanical engineers and designers, and managing and growing the team.
Responsibilities:
* Provide technical services related to Mechanical Engineering aspects of project scopes, focusing on design, FEED, and EPCm scope preparation and execution, design and safety reviews, equipment and materials specification, procurement, vendor selection, and resolving technical issues.
* Act as the technical expert in Mechanical Engineering with final approval authority.
* Lead the Mechanical Engineering team, developing design scopes and ensuring all deliverables comply with relevant codes and standards.
* Coordinate Mechanical Engineering interfaces across project phases.
* Establish professional relationships, support technical queries, and interpret scope, specifications, and standards.
* Identify resourcing issues and gaps.
* Ensure all work is completed within the agreed budget and schedule.
Candidate Skills, Experience, and Education:
* BSc/MSc or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Chartered Mechanical Engineer status is preferred.
* Experience in Mechanical Engineering design within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or chemical industries.
* Significant experience as a Lead Mechanical Engineer in consultancy, EPIC contracting, or client organizations.
* Package engineering experience (rotating and static equipment) is desirable.
* Team leadership and management experience.
* Familiarity with international design codes and standards, including ASME, API, and European EN codes.
* Experience in mechanical/piping fabrication, steel structures, and mechanical-civil interface.
* Proficiency in 3D design and modeling methods used within the discipline.
