This post will be part of a wider programme of Conservation Traineeships. Benefits of joining us at Historic Environment Scotland Enrolment onto a Civil Service Pension scheme – 28% employer contribution 25 days annual leave, pro-rata (increasing to 30 days after 3 years) 11.5 public holidays Reimbursement for relevant professional subscriptions Support for further education and personal development Study leave for work related courses Flexible working hours (where appropriate) Free entry to all of our properties (with up to three guests) Free entry to English Heritage, Manx and Cadw properties Key Responsibilities of this role Your day-to-day duties will include: Being an active member of the HES Cultural Resources Team Developing an understanding of cultural resources management Learning about the legislation, policy and principles that govern the management and protection of heritage sites Supporting a range of teams across HES who work with the Properties in Care Researching the Properties in Care using a wide range of materials, including plans, historic maps and photographs, archaeological reports, survey data Contributing to the provision of advice and production of impact assessments in relation to proposals for change at the Properties in Care, this includes understanding and assessing cultural significance, and advising on mitigation strategies Contributing to Cultural Resources Team outreach events which may include talks, tours, or archaeological fieldwork Contributing towards archaeological/historical research related to interpretation, events, learning, climate change and conservation projects Supporting the work of the Archives and Information Officers, including reviewing archaeology reports Attending meetings, both on-site and online with internal colleagues to discuss programmes of work relating to the Properties in Care Creating a professional portfolio of work on live projects at HES, including devising and implementing one larger research project for a PIC Key requirements of the role: In order for you to be successful in this post, we will be looking for you to complete a cover letter which addresses: 1.
