Job Description

Join us to Build a Cleaner, Safer Net Zero World. Shaping the next generation nuclear power together.

Engineers at AtkinsRéalis are at the heart of delivering transformative projects in the UK nuclear industry, reducing carbon emissions whilst achieving future energy security. Your work will span across areas including new nuclear power station design, developing fusion technologies, or implementing new nuclear waste management processes and defence projects.

AtkinsRéalis is looking to grow our team of process engineers within the Nuclear EMEA business. If you have the passion to join some of these exciting projects, then we would love to discuss with you. We work collaboratively to solve technical challenges across the entire project lifecycle, from concept design to decommissioning. Our day-to-day activities include production of various process engineering deliverables (process sizing calculations, heat & material balances, P&IDs, etc.), process modelling, and process safety activities (HAZID/HAZOP studies, DSEAR assessments, etc.).

About the Opportunity:

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and skills, and take a strengths-based approach, looking to fit roles to the applicant's strengths to allow them to support the development of their own careers and success of the business.

* BEng/MEng in Chemical Engineering with Chartership (preferable).
* Experience in the nuclear industry would be ideal, but we welcome the learning you can bring from other industries too.
* Experience in chemical process simulation software packages to design, optimize, and troubleshoot chemical processes.
* Collaborate across the AtkinsRéalis business to provide your technical expertise, where it is needed the most, giving our clients the best engineering solutions.
* Strengthen the delivery of work through a variety of means, including full-time embedded resource within client offices, site-based roles, and in-house engineering support from AtkinsRéalis offices.
* Focused on providing high quality work to the client.
* Communicate well in written and verbal form.
* Enjoy mentoring and guiding junior engineers and take a key role within the team.

Why work for AtkinsRéalis?

The UK is the first major economy to legislate for a Net Zero target by 2050. To achieve this, our Energy Teams are ensuring a mix of secure and sustainable energies that can meet our industry and lifestyle demands today, and in 30 years' time. We help to power our world through exciting new technologies and intelligent cybersecurity systems on projects that vary greatly in size, scope, and scale. So, you'll be creating the right safe and resilient systems across nuclear power, renewables, decarbonisation development, new builds and energy efficiency.

We value your diversity and believe that everyone deserves to thrive – no exceptions. You'll be part of a culture committed to finding new talent from underrepresented groups. We're Disability Confident, an Inclusive Employer, and support STEM Returners. We also want to see more women in senior roles at AtkinsRéalis. In the energy sector, we've signed up to the AXIS Pledge, promising to make equal pay, equal leadership, and equal opportunities a reality.

Security clearance:

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer. If applying to this role please do not make reference to (in conversation) or include in your application or CV, details of any current or previously held security clearance.

We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community - a place where we can all be ourselves, thrive and develop. To help embed inclusion for all, from day one, we offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements and employee networks to support staff from different backgrounds. As an Equal Opportunities Employer, we value applications from all backgrounds, cultures and ability.
