Role Summary: This team specialises in consultancy discovery for internal projects and provides additional business analyst (BA) resource support across the business. The team’s remit is to deliver high-quality discovery and analysis for activities that do not fall within the specific scheme product delivery space. In addition, the team plays a key role in supporting and developing business analyst capability across the organisation through targeted training and knowledge sharing. The Lead BA will serve as a strategic bridge between business stakeholders and the resource planning & prioritisation for the team, alongside management of performance to ensure timely and quality delivery.
1. Ensure appropriate visibility of deliverables with time agreements, the desired quality and prioritisation that is accessible for the whole of LCCC
2. Acts as the primary point of contact for all consultancy discovery and BA resource requests.
3. Estimates resource requirements for each engagement, ensuring the right skills are deployed to meet business needs.
4. Works with stakeholders to define the appropriate scope and priority for each piece of work.
5. Agrees on the artefacts and documentation standards to be used, ensuring consistency and clarity in supporting business change.
6. Supports the ongoing development of business analysts through coaching, mentoring, and delivery of training sessions.
Key Responsibilities
Consultancy Discovery: Undertake discovery and analysis for internal projects and initiatives, ensuring clear, actionable requirements and solution options are defined for business change that sits outside of specific product delivery, this includes change projects, Tech projects and additional requested business resource.
BA Resource Requests: Respond to requests for additional BA resource from across the business, deploying skilled analysts to support a variety of non-product delivery activities. This will include resource planning for today and future needs with a growing and more complex set of delivery.
BA Training & Development: Lead and contribute to the training, upskilling and sharing best practices for business analysts including those in the Product space and wider in the business where there is a need.
Business Analysis:
* Develop and maintain detailed process models and other suitable artefacts
* Ensure solutions accurately reflect policy and aligned with LCCC’s strategic goals and user needs.
* Ensure scheme and user documentation is clear, accurate and consistently maintained, providing a reliable and trusted source of information for all stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement:
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including internal SMEs, LCCC Finance, tech, delivery teams, third-party suppliers and industry bodies.
* Serve as a critical link between technical and non-technical teams, facilitating alignment and mutual understanding while minimising delays and misunderstandings
* Facilitate workshops, teach-ins and presentations to gather insights and communicate findings.
* Work closely with stakeholders to iteratively validate requirements and ensure alignment with evolving needs and expectations.
* Keep stakeholders informed and aligned by maintaining a clear, up-to-date discovery plans, boards and resource mapping that are accessible to all.
* Act as an escalation point to help resolve any delivery issues and/or priority conflicts.
Continuous Improvement:
* Identify opportunities to enhance business processes through innovation or optimisation.
* Evaluate the impact, risks and value of proposed changes or new initiatives.
Leadership & Team Development:
* Provide direction and coaching for a team of business analysts.
* Champion best practices in business discovery and analysis, requirements management and stakeholder collaboration.
* Proactively manage team performance to uphold a high standard of reliability and strengthen the team’s reputation across LCCC. Provide coaching and support to underperformers, while addressing performance issues promptly and appropriately.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Experience & Skills:
* Significant experience of delivering within complex change initiatives as a business analyst
* Considerable experience of people management experience with a strong focus on coaching skills.
* Proven experience in creating viable solutions with a strong track record of delivering complex solutions.
* Solid understanding of business process modelling and solution design. Able to create accurate BPMNs, UML and ITIL documentation and other user-centric artefacts.
* Experience in facilitating workshops, interviews and requirements gathering sessions.
* Strong documentation skills, including writing user stories, functional specs, business cases, user and process journeys.
* Robust skills in planning and managing implementation timelines, with ongoing communication and validation of the underlying assumptions.
* Excellent proficiency in business discovery tools and systems, including Visio, Camunda, Figma, Draw.io, Power BI and advanced Excel, with the ability to leverage these platforms to model processes, manage data, design workflows and create user journeys.
Desirable Experience & Skills:
* IIBA, BCS or other relevant accreditations
* Familiarity with enterprise architecture or data modelling tools.
* Experience of working in the energy sector and/or government environments.
