The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is inviting applications for Consultants in Intensive Care to join the expanding team. Successful applicants will be based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital and, with colleagues, maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of critically ill patients.
Responsibilities
* Share responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Intensive Care Unit and referrals to the Intensive Care Unit and Critical Care Outreach Service.
* Assist in the teaching and training of intensive care medicine residents and medical students from the University of Exeter Medical School and actively participate in continuing medical education (CME).
* Attend and contribute to Trust, Care Group and Departmental meetings; participate in departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit; fulfil duties of the weekly timetable including any out-of-hours responsibilities.
* Provide, with Consultant colleagues, a service to the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department.
* Out-of-hours responsibilities, including participation in the Consultant on-call rota (duties range from 1:12 to 1:14).
* Cover for colleagues’ annual leave and other authorised absences; undertake any responsibility relating to a special interest.
* Provide professional supervision of intensive care medicine Residents and undertake teaching activities.
* Participate in medical audit, the Trust's Clinical Governance processes, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* Involvement in research (where applicable).
