The Case Progression Team Leader will provide first line leadership, support and coordination to Case Progression and Evidential Text colleagues within the Case Management Unit. The successful candidate will also contribute to the overarching objective of improving file quality.

The Case Progression Team Leader will provide first line leadership, support and coordination to Case Progression and Evidential Text colleagues within the Case Management Unit. The successful candidate will also contribute to the overarching objective of improving file quality.
Key responsibilities
* Conduct daily briefings, monthly one-to-one conversations and team meetings as required
* Oversee annual leave and rota planning
* Monitor file deficiencies and report trends/ issues to the CMU manager
* Provide first line manager support to the case progression assistants and evidential typists
* Assess, prioritise, distribute and monitor workloads
* Provide advice and guidance to staff, officers and partner agencies on system, process and procedural issues
* Discharge the role of working supervisor within the unit as and when required
* To co-ordinate the timely production of typed witness statements, accurate summary records of suspect interviews and verbatim transcripts of 999 Emergency Telephone Calls and other relevant audio recordings
* Oversee the production of postal charge requisitions
* Ensure disclosure of documents underpinning the initial prosecution case
* Audit police systems to ensure staff access to relevant records is lawful and justified
* Liaise with officers to ensure case material/ documentation is supplied in accordance with the national file standard
* Support the health and safety, wellbeing, training and development of staff within the unit
* Address conduct, performance and disciplinary issues as required
* Undertake any other duties and responsibilities that are commensurate with the role and grading of the post
Essential
Knowledge and experience
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to compile, analyse, interpret and convey management information
* Proven first-line leadership experience with evidence of clear outcomes
* IT literate with experience in the use of Microsoft Office and bespoke computer systems
Desirable
* Experience working within the criminal justice system
* Prioritisation, planning and influencing skills
* Decision making ability
* Resilient, flexible and adaptable
* Ability to work unsupervised

Hours: CMU is open from 07:00 hours to 17:00 hours – Monday to Friday.
Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Medical: Only if a medical is needed for the role.
Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
