The Older Adults Community Mental Health Team in West Dunbartonshire (Cairnmhor Resource Centre, Dumbarton Joint Hospital and Goldenhill Resource Centre, Clydebank) is looking to recruit a Team Leader. The post holder will have responsibility for leadership, managing, and supporting the ongoing development of the multidisciplinary team to fulfil the key functions of the CMHT. This includes safe and effective deployment and management of clinical resources, robust risk assessment and management, implementation of complex programmes of care using a strength‑based recovery‑focused approach, proactive involvement of individuals, and optimisation of self‑management across the service.
Key Responsibilities
* Function as the named practitioner within a multidisciplinary team for a complex patient caseload requiring specialist mental health care, undertaking care coordination when required.
* Perform holistic assessment of complex care needs, including risk assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating specialist programmes of care for each caseload and monitoring clinical staff caseload.
* Review and monitor all relevant forms of care for patients in the least restrictive and disruptive manner, focusing on mental and physical well‑being and supporting staff to address issues of vulnerability, gender, health, domestic abuse, child protection, and self‑harm.
* Ensure therapeutic staff–patient relationships for complex or unstable care needs are met within a participative framework that reflects equality, dignity and respect, accounting for spiritual and cultural diversity, and works proactively with allied agencies and interpreter services.
* Ensure clinical staff work within agreed competency‑based parameters, delivering evidence‑based psychological therapies and approaches in individual or group settings.
* Ensure clinical staff work in partnership with patients and carers using values‑based practice to deliver person‑centred care, support mental wellbeing and prevent relapse.
* Ensure professional practice adheres to regulatory bodies and complies with legislation, referencing relevant Acts when exercising functions.
* Support the Integrated Operations Manager, contribute to the health and social care agenda, and lead professional, practice and service improvements to ensure safe, effective, person‑centred care delivery and CMHT key functions.
Duration, Location and Working Pattern
* Location: West Dunbartonshire (Cairnmhor Resource Centre, Dumbarton Joint Hospital and Goldenhill Resource Centre, Clydebank).
* Permanent contract.
* Full‑time position.
* Shift pattern: Monday to Thursday, 09:00 am – 04:45 pm.
Qualifications
* Relevant professional qualification.
* Honours degree level education or equivalent experience.
* Specialist knowledge and application of mental health care, including risk assessment and values‑based practice.
* Evidence of qualification or formal study demonstrating evidence‑based psychological therapy skill.
* Evidence of qualification or formal study demonstrating front‑line management and leadership knowledge, skills and expertise.
* Post‑registration study or professional development relevant to specialist community mental health.
* Line management and clinical supervision of senior staff.
* Coordination of care with patients with complex, unstable mental health needs.
* Applied management and leadership skills.
* Enhanced written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience of service improvement and/or practice development at local or service level.
* Ability to manage competing priorities.
* Duty in a home/near‑to‑home environment, which may involve driving.
