Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic Construction Tutor to support the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational PRU Settings in Newcastle on a full-time and long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development.
About the Role:
1. The role will involve planning and teaching engaging and informative Construction sessions that inspire pupils with a wide range of SEN and allows all pupils to make progress.
* Working with Secondary aged pupils within a PRU setting who have a wide range of SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis and in small Intervention groups
* Building positive relationships with pupils and Teaching Assistants to create excellent learning environments.
* Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner
* Differentiating lessons appropriately to suit the needs and earning styles of all pupils.
* Using varied methods of assessment to assess pupil progress
* Displaying high levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with children.
* Working effectively with Teaching Assistants to ensure children receive the best possible educational experience
About the School:
2. The role is based in an inspirational PRU setting in Newcastle.
* The School supports pupils across the Secondary School age range who have been excluded from mainstream Education
Pay, Hours and Contract:
3. Pay – Between £110-145 per day
* Hours –
* Contract – Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2025. Temporary Contract.
* Start Date – ASAP
* Location – Newcastle
Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:
4. An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you)
* Construction Tutoring or Teaching experience of any kind
* Strong Behaviour Management skills
* Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress
* Preferably some experience in plastering, bricklaying, DT or painting
5. Strong relationship-building skills with an ability to build rapport
* A positive and resilient attitude towards Teaching and work
* A genuine passion for Teaching and supporting young people develop their skills
* Strong organisation and communication skills
