Overview
Our client is seeking a Pricing / Portfolio Analyst to join a Pricing & Data Science function on a fixed-term basis, supporting profitable growth across an e-traded SME insurance portfolio. The portfolio includes packaged SME products such as Commercial Combined, Tradesman, Professional Indemnity, as well as Motor Fleet and Minibus.
This role is suited to an analytically strong insurance professional who can turn complex data into actionable insight, influence stakeholders, and support product optimisation in a regulated environment. You will work collaboratively across underwriting, product, and e-trade development teams to identify opportunities, manage risks, and implement improvements that support portfolio performance.
Responsibilities
* Analyse performance of e-traded SME insurance products to ensure alignment with strategic plans and business objectives.
* Conduct detailed segmental analysis to identify performance drivers, growth opportunities, and emerging risks across products.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to gather data, agree analytical approaches, communicate insights, and provide clear recommendations.
* Partner with e-trade development teams to implement solutions and drive product and process improvements.
* Use advanced data manipulation techniques to develop new insights and share outcomes through dashboards and ad-hoc reporting.
* Engage with external partners to review account performance and maintain strong professional relationships.
* Ensure compliance with internal standards, governance, and relevant regulatory requirements and best practice.
Requirements
Essential
* Demonstrated experience analysing large, complex datasets to inform business decisions.
* Experience within the insurance sector, with understanding of commercial lines and/or SME products.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including development of reports and dashboards.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly and influence stakeholders.
* Collaborative approach, able to work effectively across multiple teams and disciplines.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to working within regulated standards and governance.
Desirable
* Exposure to motor SME products, including packaged products and e-traded distribution.
* Underwriting experience and/or experience working in an e-trade environment.
* Working knowledge of analytical tools or programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI, or VBA.
