Project Details
The Senior Risk Manager will be deployed on the Sizewell C project, a major nuclear new build development on the Suffolk coast near Ipswich.
This nationally significant energy infrastructure project involves the construction of a new nuclear power station, including reactor units, associated buildings and extensive supporting infrastructure.
Based in the Ipswich office, this role will support programme-wide risk management activities across this large-scale and highly regulated construction project.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Senior Risk Manager / Risk Manager will be responsible for delivering high-quality risk management services across the project lifecycle, ensuring best practice and effective stakeholder engagement.
1. Deliver risk management services in a consistent and professional manner exceeding client expectations
2. Implement effective risk management processes to reduce project uncertainty and risk exposure
3. Develop and implement risk management frameworks aligned with industry best practice
4. Facilitate risk workshops and engage project teams in proactive risk identification and mitigation
5. Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk analysis using industry-recognised tools
6. Produce clear and concise risk reports tailored to project and programme requirements
7. Support continuous improvement of risk management processes, tools and systems
8. Assist in the development of innovative risk management approaches
9. Support bid preparation and proposals to secure new work
10. Contribute to business development and client engagement activities
11. Promote risk management services within the wider construction and infrastructure sector
12. Ensure integration of risk management with project controls, planning and cost management
Desired Skills and Experience
This opportunity is suitable for both Senior Risk Manager and Risk Manager level candidates with experience in major infrastructure or energy projects.
13. Around 5+ years’ experience in risk management within construction or infrastructure projects
14. Experience on major infrastructure programmes such as rail, transportation, or energy projects
15. Strong knowledge of risk management methodologies aligned to ISO31000, APM or IRM standards
16. Experience facilitating risk workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions
17. Proven ability to undertake qualitative and quantitative risk analysis
18. Experience producing risk reports to support decision-making
19. Familiarity with risk management tools such as ARM, Xactium, Primavera Risk Analysis, Safran Risk, @Risk or Risk Predict!
20. Understanding of value management and its application on infrastructure projects
21. Knowledge of integration between risk, planning, cost and commercial functions
22. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
23. Degree qualified or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
24. Professional qualification in Risk Management or related field is desirable
25. Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. APM, IRM) is advantageous
