About Police Digital Service
The National Management Centre (NMC) is part of Police Digital Services and provides visibility and control of information risks for policing. It supports the 24x7x365 nature of police operations by delivering threat detection and response capabilities for digital services before, during and after cyber‑attacks, enabling stakeholders to understand and proactively manage risk across the technology estate at both the national and force level.
Key Responsibilities
 * Respond to immediate security threats on NMC monitored networks, detecting, analysing, investigating, and responding to cyber security alerts.
 * Work closely with Incident Response Teams to ensure security issues are addressed quickly upon discovery.
 * Initial triage of alerts, evaluation & confirmation of false positives, gathering incident data and providing feedback on gaps and tuning opportunities.
 * Assess incident severity, report trends, and present force‑by‑force event summaries to stakeholders.
 * Escalate potential incidents to customers or Senior Cyber Detect Analyst/CIMT Team as appropriate.
 * Accountable for the initial assessment of alerts, engaging relevant stakeholders, and ensuring initial engagement with national police forces.
 * Maintain situational awareness across national police forces (change, problem, incident, network architecture, critical asset lists).
 * Contribute to the continuous optimisation of content and improve processes.
 * Engage in regular performance conversations with a line manager and drive personal development.
What You Need To Succeed In The Role
 * Ability to acquire SC and NPPV3 level clearances.
 * Experience in a fast‑paced operational environment and within a team.
 * Customer‑facing experience and strong interpersonal skills.
 * Knowledge of security methodologies, commonly deployed cyber security tools, internet protocols, and IP networks.
 * Proficiency in SIEM technology for alert handling and analysis.
 * Strong attention to detail, multi‑tasking, prioritising and time‑management skills.
 * Excellent verbal and written communication, able to translate technical information into plain English.
 * Motivation to work independently and drive technical engagement.
 * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
