Bradford and Airedale Citizens Advice & Law Centre is a leading provider of legal advice and information, supporting thousands of clients every year. We are a busy, client focused and dynamic service with a track record of delivering high quality advice. Our Welfare Benefits team provide a professional welfare benefits advice service, which enables clients to understand their entitlement to welfare benefits and eligibility criteria.
The post holder will work as part of a well-established team, providing a reliable and effective welfare benefits advice service, across all advice channels and access points, utilised by Bradford and Airedale Citizens Advice & Law Centre.
Responsibilities
* Provide client support over the phone, digitally and in-person as part of the welfare benefits team.
* Develop a detailed understanding of the welfare benefits system and apply it to client cases.
* Work across all advice channels and access points to deliver a reliable welfare benefits advice service.
* Liaise with contacts within the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to find resolutions for escalated issues.
* Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and demonstrate excellent listening and questioning skills.
* Present yourself in a professional and courteous manner with all clients seeking support.
* Uphold data protection and security standards while handling client information.
* Be proficient in computer use and Microsoft Office; collaborate effectively as part of a diverse team.
Qualifications

* Professional and courteous demeanor when engaging with clients.
* Good numeracy to perform benefit check calculations to aid the advice process.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
* Open and friendly demeanour; ability to work as part of a diverse team.
Requirements
* The successful applicant must already possess the right to work in the UK or be able to secure it independently; Bradford and Airedale Citizens Advice & Law Centre is not a sponsoring organisation. Verification of right to work will be undertaken for successful candidates.

* Role: Welfare Benefits Adviser (Trainee considered)
* Salary: Experienced: £27,000 – £30,000; Trainee: £25,000 – £26,000
* Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week)
* Location: Hybrid role – home/offices with presence at outreaches across Bradford & Airedale
* Reporting to: Welfare Benefits Services Manager(s)
