Job Title: Independent Prescribing (IP) Pharmacist – Community Pharmacy

Job Summary
We are looking for a clinically driven Independent Prescribing Pharmacist to join our community pharmacy team in Scotland. This role focuses on expanding clinical services, delivering patient-centred care, and utilising prescribing skills to improve access to treatment within the community setting.
You will play a key role in service delivery aligned with NHS Scotland priorities, including managing common clinical conditions, supporting long-term condition care, and reducing pressure on GP services.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver independent prescribing clinics within scope of competence (e.g., minor illness, acute conditions, long-term condition management)
* Provide Pharmacy First Plus / NHS Pharmacy First Scotland services
* Conduct clinical consultations, assessments, and prescribing decisions
* Deliver structured medication reviews and support medicines optimisation
* Manage and support long-term conditions (e.g., hypertension, asthma, COPD)
* Provide urgent care consultations and triage patients appropriately
* Administer vaccination services (e.g., flu, travel, NHS campaigns)
* Lead and develop private clinical services (if applicable)
* Ensure compliance with Scottish clinical guidelines and PGDs
* Support the safe supply of medicines and supervise dispensing processes
* Provide leadership, training, and support to pharmacy team members
* Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure confidentiality
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Qualified Independent Prescriber (IP)
* Experience working in community pharmacy
* Strong consultation and clinical assessment skills
* Ability to work autonomously and make safe prescribing decisions
* Excellent communication and patient care skills
Desirable Criteria
* Experience delivering NHS Pharmacy First Scotland services
* Training in minor illness / acute care prescribing
* Experience with vaccination services
* Leadership or management experience
* Postgraduate clinical qualification
