Overview
We are looking for an individual who will lead the development and delivery of Strategic R&D within MIAA, bringing together a multi‑disciplinary group to assess current and emerging national guidance and priorities, and deliver impactful interpretation internally and to our clients. The role includes oversight of the Quality Assurance framework, ISO 9001/2015 accreditation, public sector internal audit standards, internal and external quality assessments, and operational quality assurance processes. The lead will provide expert advice on professional standards and position MIAA with professional bodies and organisations across the Northwest and nationally.
Responsibilities
* Lead the development and implementation of Strategic R&D across MIAA.
* Establish and oversee the Quality Assurance framework across all MIAA services.
* Promote and position MIAA with professional bodies.
* Provide expert advice and guidance to MIAA Directors, managers and staff on professional internal audit standards.
* Manage staff performance and disciplinary issues in accordance with organisational policy.
* Develop, manage and evaluate stakeholder relationships to enable the delivery of high‑quality services.
* Communicate clearly and effectively with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to promote services and share insights.
* Maintain participation of staff in R&D initiatives and embed priorities across business units.
* Manage and deliver a portfolio of internal audit plans for up to 60 clients.
* Support the Associate Director – Continuous Improvement in developing a strategic R&D approach.
* Coordinate the delivery of breakfast briefings, benchmarking and insights, and horizon‑scanning assessments.
Qualifications
* Master's degree level (or equivalent) with CCAB or CIIA qualification and demonstrable CPD.
* Evidence of further education, training and management training.
* Experience leading a team.
* Relevant professional development and demonstrable internal audit experience.
* Strong analytical and formal written report writing skills, including board‑level reporting.
* Experience dealing with external NHS bodies and other agencies.
* Experience publishing information using electronic reporting tools.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience managing or assisting in the management of a department budget.
* Extensive knowledge of internal audit and associated professional standards.
* Knowledge of relevant NHS agendas and strategic developments.
* Knowledge of quality assurance approaches, measures and assessments.
