About the Role
Rivit Search is proud to partner with a leading developer to hire a Lead Soil Carbon Modeller. This critical new role will develop the firm’s modelling capability, with scope to grow and lead a team. This is a unique opportunity to drive impact across a portfolio of millions of hectares, delivering benefits for communities across continents.
As Lead Soil Carbon Modeller, you will be the senior technical hire shaping how soil carbon models are developed, calibrated and validated to underpin certification. Working closely with the Leadership team, CTO and Head of Certifications, you will design and build soil carbon modelling capabilities that scale across diverse projects and geographies.
What You Will Be Doing
* Lead the development, calibration and validation of soil carbon models (DayCent, RothC) to support project-level certification
* Support the Certification Team for validation and verification, while ensuring model inputs and outputs align with VVB expectations and best practices
* Develop standardised modelling workflows to ensure scalability of models across project types and geographies
* Implement robust QA/QC processes across data pipelines to ensure traceability, reproducibility and audit-readiness of model inputs and outputs
* Work with the Digital team to integrate remote sensing insights into modelling using your understanding of GIS databases (QGIS, PostGIS) and remote sensing methods in agroecology
* Partner with the Digital team using collaborative workflows (Git, Jupyter) to drive transparency and automation for scaling models
* Translate modelling insights into practical recommendations for cross-functional teams in Business, Certification, Operations and other stakeholders
* Contribute to strategy by staying updated on evolving carbon methodologies, peer-reviewed science and best practices
What You Will Bring
* Proven expertise in soil carbon modelling with hands-on experience calibrating and validating models using DayCent, RothC or similar tools
* Strong coding skills (Python, R) and the ability to work directly with model inputs, data pipelines and outputs
* Good understanding of carbon certification process, and the implications of modelling decisions for validation and verification; hands-on experience supporting projects through certification is a strong advantage
* Familiarity with GIS and remote sensing (QGIS, PostGIS and others in agroecology) is a strong plus
* Experience implementing standardised workflows and robust QA/QC for data pipelines to enable scaling of models
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical modelling outputs into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders
* Agility, problem-solving ability and systems-level thinking to thrive in a fast-moving, multicultural and entrepreneurial environment
* Commitment to continuous learning, staying abreast of evolving carbon methodologies, peer-reviewed science and best practices
Why Join Us?
* Work with a high-calibre, mission-driven team focused on integrity and impact.
* Shape the team strategy, with the potential to lead and grow a team
* Flexibility of working remotely with strong international exposure
