Company Overview

Headway Arts is based in Blyth, Northumberland. Over the years we have offered many of the northern region's most accomplished socially engaged artists: fantastic opportunities to learn, grow and develop their practice within our local, national and international projects. We are proud to be an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. Our authentic, bold and pioneering work recognises what we call #BeautifulDifference and we believe everyone has the right to lead a creative life and be able to contribute to the cultural life of their communities. We have developed and refined our multi award winning Access & Aesthetics & CoCreART methodologies in which we have trained practitioners working with marginalised communities across Europe. We created Headway ArtSpace transforming The Old Church into Blyth's fully inclusive arts and cultural centre; now an inspirational environment where participatory arts thrive and a national centre for arts and inclusion which is a gorgeous warm welcoming place to gather, belong and make art. Also a stunning indie grass roots music venue and member of the Music Venues Trust. As the UK agent for ACCAC, a global organisation dedicated to intercultural awareness, inclusion and diversity, we work across the world.
