Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected planning consultancy in their search for a Principal Town Planner to join their team in Winchester.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Principal Town Planner to take on a senior leadership role within a growing consultancy, working across a diverse portfolio of projects including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping project strategy, managing clients, and supporting the growth of the business.
THE ROLE
As a Principal Town Planner, you will lead and oversee a range of planning projects from early-stage strategy through to submission and determination.
You will take a proactive role in client engagement, provide high-level planning advice, and mentor junior team members, positioning yourself as a key figure within the business as a Principal Town Planner.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Leading and managing complex planning applications and projects
* Providing high-level strategic planning advice to clients
* Acting as a key point of contact for major clients and stakeholders
* Overseeing the preparation of planning reports and documentation
* Managing and mentoring junior team members
* Liaising with Local Planning Authorities and key consultees
* Driving business development and identifying new opportunities
* Supporting the overall growth and direction of the business
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
* RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
* MRTPI qualified
* Extensive experience within a planning consultancy environment
* Strong leadership and project management skills
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing abilities
* Proven track record in managing complex projects
* Strong commercial awareness and business development skills
