Overview
The department of Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) is responsible for running and maintaining the entire University estate, including all buildings, gardens, and facilities. We work with all departments to keep the University running effectively, ensuring it continues to be a remarkable place to work and study for staff and students.
Position
As a Mobile Cleaning Assistant you will play an important and valued role in our university community by helping to maintain buildings and outdoor spaces, ensuring they remain clean and well presented for staff, students and visitors. You will report to the Cleaning Shift Supervisor.
Responsibilities
* Follow agreed cleaning schedules, using appropriate techniques, materials and specialist equipment.
* Perform outdoor tasks including clearing leaves, sweeping walkways, cleaning external windows and removing graffiti & fly posters.
* Respond to reactive departmental cleaning requests submitted through the Helpdesk or Planon system.
* Transport cleaning equipment between sites and use, store and clean equipment safely in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.
* Report equipment faults, damage or maintenance issues to the Cleaning Supervisor.
* Use cleaning chemicals in accordance with COSHH Regulations (2002).
* Safeguard keys during working hours.
* Activate and deactivate building alarms and secure entrances/exits after duties, as appropriate.
* Prioritise workload, communicate with building users and work around usage to ensure priority areas are serviced first.
* Make ethical decisions and embed the University sustainability strategy into activities where possible.
* Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.
Qualifications
* Effective verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and support colleagues as part of a team.
* Driven and enthusiastic with a positive attitude and flexible approach to work.
* Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
* Full clean UK driving licence, required to drive a transit van.
* Previous outdoor/external cleaning experience (desirable).

Grade
Grade 2.
Salary
£23,061 to £23,350 pro rata, per annum. Potential to progress to £23,742 pro rata through sustained exceptional contribution.
Working arrangement
Full Time, Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am–4:00 pm, 35 hours per week.
