Product Specialist – Molecular (Northeast UK)
Reporting to: Sales Lead – Molecular
Overview
A leading provider of molecular diagnostics solutions is seeking a Product Specialist to support the growth of its molecular product portfolio across the Northeast of the UK.
Working closely with the commercial team, this role will focus on providing technical and product expertise to support sales activity, develop new opportunities, and increase market adoption within clinical and laboratory environments. The position combines field-based customer engagement with internal collaboration to deliver effective, solution‑led outcomes.
This is a highly field‑oriented role requiring regular travel to customer sites, including NHS and clinical laboratory settings.
Purpose of the Role
* Support the sales team in driving adoption and revenue growth of the molecular diagnostics portfolio
* Deliver technical expertise to customers and internal stakeholders to support strategic sales objectives
* Contribute to the development and execution of customer‑specific plans aligned to commercial strategy
Key Responsibilities
Technical Sales Support & Business Development
* Partner with Sales Account Managers to identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities
* Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and value propositions to customers
* Support the full sales process by aligning technical solutions with customer requirements
* Assist in building and executing strategic account plans to drive revenue growth
Customer Engagement
* Provide on‑site technical support and guidance to clinical, diagnostic, and laboratory customers
* Develop a strong understanding of customer workflows, challenges, and unmet needs
* Support evaluations, validations, and implementation of molecular solutions where required
Internal Collaboration
* Work closely with product management, marketing, R&D, and operations teams to align on priorities and deliverables
* Act as a key technical resource for the molecular portfolio across the organisation
* Share market insights and customer feedback to support product development and commercial strategy
Market Development
* Support expansion of market share within the molecular diagnostics space while maintaining commercial awareness
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of competitor offerings and market trends
* Represent the organisation at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings
General Responsibilities
* Adhere to all relevant standard operating procedures and quality standards
* Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of customer interactions and project activities
* Maintain confidentiality of commercially sensitive, technical, and customer information
Candidate Profile
Qualifications
* Degree in Biomedical Science, Molecular Biology, or a related life sciences discipline
* Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) desirable
Experience
* Experience within the UK diagnostics or life sciences sector
* Background in molecular diagnostics, either in a commercial or laboratory‑based role
* Experience supporting or delivering technical sales activities is advantageous
* Familiarity with NHS or clinical laboratory environments preferred
