Job Title: Dosimetrist / Treatment Planner
We are seeking an experienced dosimetrist or treatment planner to join our friendly, multi-professional radiotherapy team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. Our department delivers techniques including Lung SABR and is actively engaged in research through commercial and non-commercial trials.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and experienced in treatment planning, introducing new techniques, clinical trials, and paper-light workflows. You will be part of a project team involved in purchasing and commissioning a new treatment planning system, with exciting developments planned for the coming years.

Position Details
We are open to considering a Band 5 to Band 6 development role for this position.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide an efficient, effective, and timely treatment planning service in accordance with departmental protocols and procedures.
2. Accurately produce and review outlining of organs at risk (or check automated outlining) for all body sites, understanding organ at risk doses in line with site-specific clinical treatment protocols.
3. Perform palliative radiotherapy pre-treatment calculations and data entry.
4. Collaborate with treatment radiographers to resolve complex treatment setup issues and develop guidance for IGRT as needed.
5. Maintain ongoing professional development and contribute to departmental accreditation standards, ensuring high-quality patient care.
About Our Department
Our department features two VERSA Elekta Linacs, Mosaiq Oncology Management System, Pinnacle Treatment Planning System, Limbus AI OAR outlining software, and a Canon Aquilion CT Scanner installed in early 2024. We participate actively in clinical trials, with Lung SABR treatments initiated in 2021 and expansion into Bone and Nodal Treatments expected in 2025.
Future Plans
Upcoming initiatives include implementing SGRT in early 2025, upgrading Mosaiq, integrating EPIC, and commissioning a new TPS. Long-term plans involve preparing for successive Linac replacement programs.
