About the Role
The Veterinary Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at Severn Edge, Ludlow, is part of a dedicated, part‑time (average 19.88 hrs per week) permanent team. The shift pattern is Tuesday and Friday with a 1:4 share on the weekend rota. In this role you will support our team of qualified Veterinary Nursing and Veterinary Staff to provide outstanding care to our patients.
Responsibilities
* Provide nursing care to patients.
* Assist vets and nurses in restraining animals for treatment.
* Feed, walk and clean patients.
* Prepare emergency and operating facilities.
* Perform general cleaning and maintenance duties.
* Run internal lab samples.
* Answer emergency calls.
* Cover the receptionist desk, including answering queries, booking appointments and processing payments.
Qualifications
* Excellent communicator with strong empathy.
* Excellent customer‑service skills and experience in dealing with members of the public.
* Experience in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, medicating and handling, with a high level of understanding of animal welfare needs.
* Ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations.
* Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
* Desirable: Experience looking after animals in a veterinary environment.
