This is not just another Sous Chef role.
This is a chance to help shape a destination restaurant in one of the most beautiful parts of the Cotswolds.
We are a 2 rosetted restaurant and 4-star boutique hotel with 18 rooms and lodges, overlooking the Stroud Valley. Our ethos is simple but powerful:

Everything we do flows from that.
Our 60 cover restaurant sources ingredients within a 35 mile radius, works closely with sustainable farms, and grows produce in two kitchen gardens. Alongside breakfast and dinner service, we are a well known destination for afternoon tea and operate a relaxed fire grill terrace restaurant twice a week, including garden pizzas and live fire cooking. A Wellness Garden is currently in development.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Sous Chef who wants more than service. Someone who wants to help evolve the restaurant into a restaurant with rooms, not a hotel with a restaurant.
You will support the Head Chef in strengthening our food story, elevating standards, building reputation and creating memorable experiences that attract accolades, events and attention.
What you will be trusted to do
Support the Head Chef in developing creative menus that balance relaxed dining with special occasion food
Champion local suppliers, seasonal produce and farm to fork cooking across the business
Help manage GP targets, aiming for 70 percent, while actively reducing waste
Develop, support and retain the kitchen team, including rota management in the Head Chefs absence
Lead sections confidently and step up to run the kitchen when required
Contribute to marketing and storytelling, including kitchen led content and Instagram
Help secure Good Food Guide and Michelin listings, with a longer-term ambition of a third rosette
Develop and lead culinary events, including Back Patio and garden dining experiences
Maintain exceptional standards of hygiene, stock control and health and safety
What we are looking for
Experience in a 2 rosette or higher kitchen is ideal, but strong culinary creativity and a passion for local produce is equally valued
Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous ready to step up
Confidence cooking across multiple styles and services
A leader who enjoys mentoring, training and setting the standard
Strong organisational skills with a commercial mindset
A genuine interest in provenance, kitchen gardens and sustainable cooking
