Job overview

An exciting opportunity to join our dedicated team as a Trainee Assistant Physiologist performing routine diagnostic investigations within the Clinical Measurement Department at RDH and cardio-respiratory department at QHB.

The post will involve, once qualified as an Assistant Physiologist, performing a range of standard diagnostic clinical measurement investigations from various departmental sections.

Services will be delivered from the Royal Derby Hospital and will include working on the main site as well as clinics at the Community Diagnostic Centres at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital and Ilkeston Community Hospital. Rotation to our sister site at Queens Hospital Burton and Sir Robert Peel CDC will also be required.


Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated individual to join our busy team performing a variety of Cardiology and Respiratory diagnostic tests on patients. You will primarily be involved in recording Electrocardiographs (ECGs) on inpatients and outpatients of all ages. As competency progresses, you will develop further skills to perform and assist with other tests carried out within the department. This is not a qualified position, although you will be expected to study towards the Certificate in Electrocardiography to attain competency in ECG recording and basic interpretation.

Qualifications

* GCSE Grade C or above (4-9) in English, Maths and science
* SCST Certificate in Electrocardiography
* BLS/HLS


Experience

* Experience working with the general public
* Working in a health care setting

* Evidence of communicating with a wide variety of the general public
* No spelling or grammatical errors
