Job title: Project Engineer

The Role
The role of the Project Engineer is to assist the Strategic Accounts team to ensure smooth, on schedule running of their projects, including the achievement of all customers' expectations and adherence to statutory regulations. You will also be supporting the Company's Project Managers, with regards the following, H&S management, installation progress and quality, material management and test and commissioning.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Conducting site surveys and preparing documentation accordingly giving due consideration to all applicable security and fire risk factors
2. Planning fire detection, access control, CCTV and intruder alarm systems
3. Ensuring system design specifications are compatible with the requirements of all applicable technical and regulatory standards (i.e. EN, BS, HTM) and BAFE/NSI Codes of Practice
4. Coordinating installation activities to ensure that they are carried out in a controlled manner and in accordance with the Company's documented procedures and processes plus any statutory and regulatory requirements that may apply
5. Actively monitoring and managing project progress
6. Ensuring adherence to all Company policies – including those for quality, health & safety and the management of false alarms.
7. Providing reports as appropriate to the Project Manager and any other Officers of the Company
8. Carrying out any other job specific duties as deemed appropriate by the directors of the Company
9. Health & Safety reporting (Safe Starts, Tool Box Talks, Site Inspections, Plant & MEWP inspections)
10. Quality reporting including snagging installation work, ensuring snags are cleared and documented
11. Reporting on progress including mark ups of drawings or schedules
12. Liaising with the Project Managers to ensure sufficient labour is available to meet project requirements
13. Attending site meetings as and when required
14. Accepting the installation from the installers ready for commissioning
15. Commissioning & testing systems, complete commissioning paperwork
16. Demonstrating operation of systems to client/client rep
17. Keeping up to date in respect of new technologies and regulatory standards that are relevant to the design process

Person Specification
Essential
18. Experience of working on but not limited to the following systems:- fire detection, access control, CCTV and intruder alarm systems to the applicable British and European Standards and knowledge also of all relevant BAFE/NSI codes of practice
19. Ability to follow design specifications and to implement good working practices of installation works
20. Excellent communication skills (both written & verbal), including the ability to interpret technical documents
21. Ability to plan and monitor work to tight time scales and deadlines
22. Ability to work creatively and innovatively dealing with core issues with customers
23. Ability to form good working relationships with colleagues, customers and outside bodies
24. Computer literate and proficient in all core Microsoft Office packages

27. Experience of Eque2 or other similar contract management software

Working Conditions
The physical environment requires the employee to work in office and construction site locations around the UK. Construction site locations will involve both inside and outside working environments and the employee will frequently be required to use personal protective equipment. The employee may be required to work nights, weekends and on public holidays and will be required to spend time away in order to fulfil the job role.
